URUMQI, XINJIANG — From July 15 to 18, 2026, the technical service team from DianJiang Group Ltd. completed the field installation, commissioning, data verification, and operational training for tree eco-physiological monitoring systems and plant specimen image analysis platforms across two scientific institutions in Xinjiang.

The service covered both long-term field observations and indoor digital specimen analysis, providing reliable technical support for forestry ecology and arid-zone plant research at the Forestry Academy of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

Part I: Field Observation — Forestry Academy of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region

Established in 1955, the Forestry Academy of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is a public forestry research institution focusing on desertification control, forest ecology, germplasm resources, and ecological restoration in arid and semi-arid environments.

The deployment took place at the Academy’s experimental field site, which was already equipped with tree growth bands, stem interception gauges, and needle-type sap flow sensors. Building upon this existing monitoring foundation, DianJiang Group's technical team integrated additional sensor systems:

DRL26D Tree Radial Growth Sensors: The team completed a demonstration setup for the DRL26D sensor, which measures micro-variations in trunk circumference via a rotary position sensor attached with a stainless-steel band. The training covered sensor orientation, band tensioning, data downloading, and standardized procedures for the customer to deploy the remaining units.

DJ-6095 In-Situ Stem Water Potential Meters: Configured with 5 control enclosures and 10 sensors targeting spruce trees (Picea), two sensor units were installed in a side-by-side comparative configuration. To address resin exudation from spruce xylem, technical staff set up standard and membrane-isolated contact points to compare long-term signal stability and drift over time.

Part II: Indoor Digital Analysis — Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography, CAS

Formed in 1998 through the merger of the Xinjiang Institute of Biology, Soil and Desert Research and the Xinjiang Institute of Geography, the Xinjiang Institute of Ecology and Geography (CAS) carries out extensive research on natural resources, ecological restoration, and biodiversity conservation in arid regions.

At the Institute's facility, the technical team installed and calibrated the WinDIAS 3 Leaf Image Analysis System, designed for high-throughput scanning and quantitative measurement of herbarium plant specimens.

System Assembly & Calibration: Engineers assembled the main console, camera assembly, lighting panel, and conveyor belt attachment. Software installation, hardware key verification, image capture, spatial calibration, and data export functions were fully validated.

Specimen Analysis Protocols: To handle dried, curled, or overlapping specimens, the team provided targeted training on maintaining consistent camera height, lighting, background contrast, and color/scale reference targets during digital scanning.

Project Summary

Through rigorous field commissioning and on-site software verification, all installed instruments successfully passed acceptance checks. The automated field sensors and digital specimen analysis workflows are now operational, providing uninterrupted data streams and standardized measurements to advance ecological research in Northwest China.
